Achievements and Awards

Over its 19-year history, Roca has been committed to actively and aggressively improving itself through self-education, strategic analysis, and adaptation. Some of Roca's notable achievements and awards include:

  • Roca, in collaboration with MassINC and the Lieutenant Governor's office, has convened statewide leadership in a series of meetings around transitional employment. The goal is to develop a strategic collaborative plan for how the Commonwealth will address this critical workforce issue.
  • The W.K. Kellogg Foundation in partnership with The Boston foundation made a $2-million endowment challenge grant to Roca in 2006.
  • In 2005 Molly Baldwin was honored with the All Chelsea Award for her commitment to and hard work in the Chelsea community.
  • Roca partnered with the Social Innovation Forum in 2005 to launch Tacos Unidos, a social enterprise which has grown into Circle Catering.
  • Roca developed and implemented its Five-Year Strategic Business Plan, FY06-FY10.
  • Molly Baldwin was honored with a 2004 Unsung Heroine Award from Boston's acclaimed Rosie's Place for her lifelong commitment to at-risk youth.
  • Roca was invited to present at a 2003 United Way Symposium on Youth Development Best Practices.
  • Roca became a United Way of Massachusetts Bay affiliate agency in 2000.
  • In 2000, Roca was recognized by Massachusetts Promise as a model organization consistent with its national agenda for youth service.
  • The Roca Revere Leadership Program was selected as one of three national “Best Practices” by the National Crime Prevention Council and showcased at the Sixth Annual Refugee Crime Prevention Conference in 1999.
  • In 1996 Roca completed a $2.93M capital campaign to create a 21,000-square-foot youth and community development center from a former car dealership.
